A moment frozen in 3D
For Matias’ 5th birthday, for our new years cards and for posterity, we took a trip to Doob in Soho to make 3D replicas of ourselves.
Doob has become increasingly popular over the past year. Their fully integrated 3D pipeline means you get scanned, and have a photo-realistic replica delivered in 2 weeks. They have 2 locations in NYC (UES & Soho), a location in SF & LA and other major cities around the world.
It was rad! The attendants were awesome and patient with us while we busted out assorted Zoolander poses. The process :
1. They walk you through the options, process and sculpture sizes (4", 6" and 9") 2. Practice your poses in front of a large mirror. 3. Step into the "doob-licator" and 52 cameras take a shot of you simultaneously. 4. Review your shot. They let you take as many as you like.
The sculptures arrived in a week and half, and Matias can’t stop playing with his “action figure.” He’s broken the hand off his sculptures a couple times but we tossed on a couple drips of super glue and it stays fresh.
